“We were living our “happily ever after” days – married and with two healthy sons, who were 2.5 years and 7 months old when we got the news in February 2016 that Micke had leukaemia – ALL.”
There were intense weeks and months where our parents and I took turns being at the hospital and with the children so he would not have to be alone. He fought for his life so many times, but made it. After 2.5 years, the last day of treatment came and we had our third child together 5 months later.
Our daughter was a victory after all we had been through. Another goal we had was to build our own house. Which we have also started to do.
Micke went for tests, which one day showed that his blood cells were not normal. The leukaemia was back in full force when our daughter was 6 months old and we had just started work on our new plot. He was returning to Umeå and it felt like the worst kind of déjà vu. How would the move and house construction go?
This time a stem cell transplant was required. But it was also necessary to make his own immune system so weak that it would not reject the new cells and remove as many cancer cells as possible. He underwent whole-body radiation and a month-long immunotherapy drip. It was horrible to see how his body was breaking down and how poorly he felt.
We were told that Micke had a match and we were visited by the transplant nurse who was going to pick up his new cells on the day she left. It was excruciating to wait while the new cells were introduced into his bloodstream and we were hoping that it would work.
His cells transitioned to 100% donor cells and the leukaemia was gone! The five of us moved into our house together and we have been three years now. We live in great gratitude and with enormous humility to life every day.
We received an email that the donor was looking for a contact and we had the opportunity to get to know and thank his donor who will forever be our hero♥️

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for existing, who knows where we would have been today if it was not for you.
Thank you! <3″
